SA Water highlights the way the design and performance of a building and its interior can be enhanced by ESD considerations. The brief demanded an enabled the development of sustainability rating process based on LEED Labs 21 and the Green Star Office Interiors tool, resulting in the highest possible rating. A combination of raw, low-impact materials, products and finishes has created a lyrical outcome within a challenging context. The designer, Hassell, has created a finely crafted result that addresses complexity and diverse functionality. The project also demonstrates government leadership on ESD implementation and a robust approach to minimizing life-cycle environmental impacts.
