Joanne Cys is the Immediate Past National President of the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) and Associate Professor in Interior Architecture at the University of South Australia.  Joanne is a Life Fellow of the Design Institute of Australia and is Australia’s representative to the Global Design Network (GDN) and the Asia Pacific Space Designers Association (APSDA).  She is a past South Australian State DIA President and past Chair of South Australian RAIA Collaborations Steering Committee.  She authored the DIA’s continuing professional development policy, education policy and the Design Services section of Austrade’s Australia’s Creative Industries publication.  She is a founder of the Australian Interior Design Awards program and was its inaugural jury convenor from 2004 – 2008.  Joanne has been invited to speak at international and national conferences, curate design exhibitions and is a regularly invited contributor to design journals.
