SA Water highlights how the design and performance of a building and its interior can be enhanced by ESD considerations. The brief demanded and enabled the development of a sustainability rating process based on LEED Labs 21 and the Green Star Office Interiors tool, resulting in the highest possible rating. A combination of raw, low-impact materials, products and finishes has created a lyrical outcome within a challenging context. The designer, Hassell, has created a finely crafted result that addresses complexity and diverse functionality. The project also demonstrates government leadership on ESD implementation and a robust approach to minimizing lifecycle environmental impacts.
